Since the inaugural International Conference on Synthetic Biology, AI and Biosecurity in Africa held in October 2021, significant advancements have occurred within SynBio Africa and across the continent. These include new training and certification programs, vaccine production partnerships, policy developments supporting synthetic biology’s role in the bioeconomy, the growth of SynBio companies, establishment of continental professional society for Synthetic Biology and professional women in Synthetic Biology group, and the establishment of regional networks for pandemic preparedness.
